Duff & Phelps’ Alternative Asset Advisory practice prepares transparent valuations of illiquid investments and complex securities and liquidity solutions through secondary market transactions.

The Duff & Phelps Alternative Asset Advisory team is looking for a Director with structured products and/or loan valuation and project management experience.
 
RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Significant experience in the valuation and analysis of amongst other things, mortgage whole loans, mortgage servicing rights (MSR’s), student loans, consumer loans as well as structured finance securities
  • Candidate should have a strong understanding of structure, collateral, and best valuation practices in general
  • Strong leader skills.  The candidate should be a creative thought-leader, with the ability to lead a client engagement, onboarding new clients, working with analysts to use industry best practices in modeling and valuing investments and deliver reports to client on-time.
  • Drive the development and refinement of valuation models and approaches to determine valuation inputs, including loss and prepayment vectors, as well as appropriate secondary market spreads
  • Analytics to help improve understanding and design of liquidation strategies for distressed asset portfolios
  • Have ability to analyze secondary trading market activity, underlying loan and security performance, as well as new issue activity if applicable
  • Help manage existing client relationships as well as pitch new business to both existing and new clients
  • Ability to work on dozens of projects at the same time and granular attention to detail. 
  • Ability to respond to client questions, auditor questions, and investor questions.  Ability to articulate and defend modeling approach under scrutiny. 
  • Self-starter, ability to work in a fast-paced environment and deliver solid action-oriented results under tight deadline
  • Conduct research, draft reports and make presentations
  • Work as part of a team to provide a wide range of advisory services, including valuation, risk analysis and portfolio solutions
  • Team work and commitment a must.
REQUIREMENTS:
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s in a quantitative discipline and an in-depth knowledge of finance, mathematics and statistics as it applies to the financial markets from an accredited college or university
  • 10+ years of experience
  • Effective interpersonal, comprehension and communication skills
  • Ability to master new tasks quickly
  • Demonstrated leadership experience and strong personal integrity
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, work on multiple assignments and manage rapidly changing assignments in a team environment
  • Structuring, trading, or whole loan modelling experience required
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills
  • Creative thinker with strong intellectual curiosity 
  • Problem solver
  • Demonstrated commitment to obtaining outstanding results
  • Programming proficiency for financial modeling applications desired
